1987 MERCEDES BENZ 190D
Very Rare Vintage Mercedes! The 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel was only imported into the US for one year. Only 1,200 were imported. This car has 228,000 miles and I consider it to be a good daily driver. The car does need some mechanical work; specifically the two auxillary fans need replacing. Got a quote of about $600 parts and labor I believe. The A/C also needs work. We're not sure what's wrong with it as we haven't gotten it checked out. The A/C in these cars haven't exactly been known to be reliable. RUST: This car is about 98% rust free. It originally came from New Jersey and as far as I know the car has been in Florida since the late 90's I believe. My brother bought it in Naples, Fl in August 2000. There is a little rust bubble under the passenger rear tail light and two jack points are showing some rust. There is also a rust bubble showing under the passenger front door. That's all the rust I can see on the car. TRANSMISSION: The automatic transmission was rebuilt about 2 years ago and has only 40k miles since being rebuilt. The trans still shifts real smooth. These 2.5 Turbos were only imported with an Automatic transmission. ENGINE: The engine still runs real strong. It does leak oil, but then again, what diesel doesn't leak some oil. A REMANUFACTURED Turbo was put in the car in May of 2006 ($900 p+l). INTERIOR: The interior is in good shape considering it's a 20 year old car with almost 230k miles on it. The dashboard is crack free except for a crack around the driver's air vent. MECHANICAL ITEMS: Items that work include the cruise control (glides smoothly down the road), sunroof, odometer, speedometer, clock (keeps perfect time), all windows except DR window, antennae works but only goes up half way- will retract down, power passenger mirror works too! Even the vacuum locks works flawlessly- including from the trunk. Items currently not working include the tachometer, trip meter, air conditioning, DR window, and all seat positions work except both headrests. Thats all I can think of for now. EXTERIOR: All paint is believed to be original and still shine in most areas. The trunk is oxidizing a little and the paint around the window/door trim is fading too. Body is in good shape with the worst areas being the driver's side rear door where it was dented and attempted to pull it out and a dent to the left of the license plate. GUYS, THE CAR IS 20 YEARS OLD IT IS NOT A NEW OR RESTORED CAR SO DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE. The front bumper is damaged on the passenger side from a light accident a couple years ago. It also caused the chip above the turn signal. The accident also damaged the grill and headlights. Both headlights were replaced as opposed to just one and the grill was eventually replaced with a new OEM Mercedes Grille-$300. The rest of the body has chips, scratches, and dings as would be expected on a 20 year old car with almost 230k miles. Listing for brother.
